G555 screen on a G550?

#1 Post by skou » Sun Sep 17, 2017 4:27 am

I've got a broken G555, with a working screen.
(video chip is bad.)

Will the screen fit a G550, assuming sizes are the same?

There is a G550 on the bay, works but has a bad screen.

The "standard" difference between such machines is:
G550 has Intel CPU
G555 has AMD CPU
Otherwise they are usually the same.

There is no HMM for G550, but there is one for G555: https://www.manualowl.com/m/Lenovo/G555/Manual/117923
AFAIK both use a 15.6" 16:9 glossy LED-screen (1366×768), almost certainly identical.

Not sure if it's worth spending money on, unless you can get it dirt cheap.
If you get that other machine, you can probably just swap lids.
