Hi all,
Recently I picked up a ThinkPad G40 (P4, 3GHz and 60gb HDD), and so far have XP Pro SP3 installed alongside Xubuntu 16.04, with the intent of using it for older games/applications and light productivity. I'm looking at installing Windows 98SE alongside these, but I'm not entirely sure about how to go about it. The G40 currently has 768mb of RAM installed (I plan on upgrading to at least 1gb), and AFAIK, 98SE can't support any more ram over 512mb (please correct me if I'm wrong). Also, would there be any other hardware limitations that could hamper me doing this? Model number is 2388BNM. If anyone else has any tips/tricks/ideas for expansion in terms of this laptop, it would be greatly appreciated, as I'm relatively new to older hardware like this.
Best Regards,
Springbox44

Do you plan to use pure DOS mode? If not, I suggest you use Windows Me instead of 98SE to get a little but more modern functionality.
In any case, both 98SE and Me should be OK with <=1GB of RAM according to this:

Re: Dual Booting G40 with Windows XP and 98SE
I intend on using mainly Windows, with DOS being a bit of a secondary need, so I would more likely than not use 98. It's also good to know that 98/ME can handle more than 512mb (like the old wives' tale said). Thanks for the link.
