Hey all,
I've always had a bit of trouble with this laptop since I bought it new back in 2001. Sometimes in the past when I took it with me on a trip it would refuse to start. XP stop codes, constant restart, HD corruption, etc. Usually rectified by remving everything and adding items back one by one.
Now it's doing it all the time. One of the main probs is the memory- tried to swap my originals with new kingston 256 modules and all heck broke loose. memtest reports tons of errors when I use two- can only use one at a time. Tried the reseat chip thing- it didn't help, temps fine, swapped 3com modem (another thing I've always had problems with), etc. Next is the hard drive- I bought a 7K60 two years ago and it has a couple bad sectors that popped up duirng one of my failed starts. I'm goign to swap it for a new one, but I seriuosly doubt this will fix the overall issue with the laptop.
Time for a new main board. Is there a way to determine what will fit in this notebook? Might as well upgrade while I'm doing surgery.
A21m 2628-G1U 800mhz Pentium, 14.1 1024 x 768 screen
I guess what I need is a cross reference based on form factor... Any pointers would be appreciated
A21M on its last legs- what mobo will fit besides orig?
