G555 No Power No Lights brick

#1 Post by onespeedbiker » Sun Sep 08, 2019 4:07 pm

A friend gave me a G555 with no power or light to retrieve info from the hard drive, which I did with no problem. I'm wondering if anyone know where to start to try and get it working. All in know for sure is there is power to the plug that plugs into the system board from the AC adapter.. I've seen system boards selling for around $50. I've read this can be a Bios issue, but found nothing to make that determination or a fix. Apparently the CMOS battery is also hardwired; what bright mind thought of that?

Apparently the G555 was part of their "Value-Line", yeah... right...

One of the gazillion brainless penny-pinchers that Lenovo seems to be jam-packed with.

That type of junktop was made from poor-quality plastic, that regularly and easily broke a few mobo-studs inside the housing.
Them sometimes being copper-painted caused shorts where they don't belong.
Or they broke a piece off the mobo.
I wouldn't waste any money on that. Reuse what you can, dump the rest.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And pigs CAN fly!

I pretty much figured the same. Thanks all for your responses.
