15" R60 Frankenpad'ing with 42W7822
Hi Guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster here writing from Dublin / Ireland.
Last year I've been infected with ThinkPad virus and it is progressing. Currently at home: I started with T540p which I replaced with W541, then I inherited 14" wide-screen T61, bought recently T440p and 15" 4:3 R60, because they were relatively cheap. I also got x230 which I am servicing for my father.
Now lets concentrate on R60. So far I upgraded :
RAM from 2x1GB to 2x2GB (DDR2 4GB sticks price is madness)
CPU from 32bit Core Duo T2400 to 64bit Core 2 Duo T7400
2nd hand but original Lenovo battery with less than 30 cycles! (my lucky day)
and most of all, screen from broken 1400x1050 to beautiful 1600x1200 panel sourced from Aliexpress.
All together for under 120 EUR
Bunch of pictures here on my Drive.
My R60 is Type 9461-54G as per the sticker on it's back.
The bottleneck is 3GB RAM, lack of Middleton support, what comes with it, SATA 2 speeds and wifi whitelist. As well Penryn support would be nice as in my T61.
Reading ThinkPad R60 15.0" FrankenPad - (Pic links) I understand R61/R61i 15.0" System board FRU's: 42W7822 should be fit in replacement that I could later on treat with mixed Middleton bios flash like described in this thread R61 - 8943-DMG Penryn upgrade to get Penryn support and be able to use T9300 like in my T61 or even T9500, if budget lets.
here on eBay I found mobo refering to be 42W7822, it even comes with CPU to be ready to flash Middleton bios on it. Would I need anything else apart of T9300 and thermal paste? Will the R60 heat sink I have there now fit on 42W7822 mobo and cover T9300?
I'm looking forward to your comments.

Best of Irish!
All you need now is Middleton's BIOS, a T9300 CPU and 2x4GB RAM.
PS: check your Private messages.

Re: 15" R60 Frankenpad'ing with 42W7822
42W7822 is in and posts, well, it shows ThinkPad splash screen and then padlock, which is to my knowledge supervisor password request. Seller forgot to mention it's locked and replies to me to simply short 2 pins on security chip. Notice...
HOW TO REMOVE LENOVO THINKPAD R61i PASSWORD video he linked does not help much, I'm looking at my board and that chip is not in the place it is on the video.
Any clue where it is on 42W7822 ? I hope it's not obstructed by the metal frame, I'm really not in mood to disassemble it to pieces again.
new pictures in my R60 folder from the operation for your enjoyment

Re: 15" R60 Frankenpad'ing with 42W7822
Update!
First of all huge thank you to RealBlackStuff for taking time to remove password from my newly purchased R61 motherboard 42W7822 and flashing it with mixed Middleton BIOS to enable Penryn support.
Last night in the middle of operation
To test the Penryn support I butchered T9300 from my T61 14" widescreen, poor thing got downgraded to T7100
And... It's alive! My R601F first boot to BIOS. Sweet satisfaction
My T61 had to give back one more part, Intel AC 7260 WiFi card with adapter. With it both of them are maxing my home internet 5Ghz WiFi network at its capacity doing 220Mb/s

Hi, this is the seller I bought from. I see delivery to Ireland is now 15 EUR, it was free delivery back then when I bought it early December and recovered in middle of January.
Warning, big pictures:
screen lable claiming it is BoeHydis, believe it or not, I'm not the expert in this matters, on contrary, I'm display panel complete noob.
screen backside
screen fitted into what was my regular R60 and is now my R601 Franki
control picture direct front view
control picture side view
control picture bottom view
control picture top view
Colours are nice, pleasant to eyes, viewing angles are very good, it only lacks brightness in direct day light.
It will stay in R601. My T60 that I'll be franking soon has original nice display, 1 level less resolution in comparison to this, but I will leave it as it is or some day go for the led version. Or try to obtain daylight led mod kit and fit it in some other 1600x1200 display I buy specially for this purpose. But let's first do the Franki of my T60.
