Hi,
I'm using an R51 model 2887-MA2 and have problems with the infrared port. My operating system is Windows XP SP2.
I encountered the problem when I attempted to link my laptop to my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson K300i) via infrared. Initially the phone was detected normally as a modem. I installed SE's file manager software, which is supposed to allow me to transfer files to and from the phone. However, even though the infrared port was enabled, the software could not detect the phone.
Thus I decided to try the Wireless Link applet in the Control Panel. However, the applet does not run at all when I double-click the icon. Thinking it was a conflict with SE's software that was causing the problem, I uninstalled the SE file manager but the problem persists.
Has anyone else experienced such a problem?
EDIT: Managed to fix problem. It seems SE's program didn't remove its drivers and they were conflicting with Windows's own drivers. After deleting the leftover files and reinstalling the IR port driver everything went fine.
