A22m Will Not power up

Please help. My A22m (2628-XX9) hangs after power up and reports a CRC1 fault. Any ideas? Is there a way to get data off the HD? I have hundereds of pictures that I would love to salvage if possible on the machine. Thanks.

I don't know what fault that is but you can get data off the HDD as long as it's not damaged by putting it in another machine, perhaps as a second HDD with an adapter.

Did you try powering it on then find the battery was dead and it shut off right away?

The BIOS EEPROM has been corrupted somehow, options you have include replacing the planar or trying one of those Australian repair services of the web.

The hard disk IDE adapter Deb mentioned can be bought off eBay and shipped for less than 10$!
