#1 Post by lucathecomputerwiz » Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:11 am

I am spesifically refering to the 1.4 pentium m to 1.7 pentium m. I am wondering because its an amazing laptop and I want to see how linux and win10 ame will run on it but when I havw tried I will always get an error because a spesific cpu function is not supported... does anyone have knowlage of this upgrade and could help me out?
Thanks

Assuming both CPUs would be Banias cores (as I expect they would), there are no differences in features.
Some Dothan-based CPUs support a few additional functions, but I doubt these can work in an R40.

Thanks for the reply, i would ve incredibly interested in potentially getting a dothan based cpu running however lile you said it os extremely unlikely. In regards to the banais cpu upgrade, the wiki article mentioned a 1.8ghz pentium m in the product line however when there are cpu upgrades to the r40 it seems only to be a 1.7ghz cpu people are.using... do you have any idea if the 1.8 Ghz pentium m (SL7FT (C0)) will work?
Here is a link to cpu-world with the cpu...

Thanks so much
