A31 HDD Upgrade

#1 Post by Vaz » Mon Jun 28, 2004 1:39 am

I am going ot replace my A31's 20g HDD with bigger one. I want to know is must I do:

1. transfer 4 HDD mounting screws to new one, as I see that those 2 screws serve as holders for the HDD cover?
2. there is a metal plate with white checkerboard pattern of circles at the bottom, must I move it to new HDD as well?

i use hdds all the time without either the cage (white checkerboard) or the screws on it but for a secure fitting hard drive and to keep your hdd cover attached you will need to transfer both the cage and the screws - if you buy an option hard drive for one of the later thinkpads from IBM it should now come with cage/screws attached

The screws align the HDD when you push it in, so they are important.
