Options for replacing A22m system board

#1 Post by kass73 » Sat May 08, 2004 12:06 pm

Recently bought a used laptop A22m 2628-PSU, 15" XGA, P3 800, and have discovered that every now and then the A22m won't boot on occasions - but will after I reseat the RAM DIMMs.. RAM checks out fine but the DIMM sockets are sketchy..for every other boot only 1 of the 2 DIMMs is recognized. On other ocassions computer will lock up just by moving the laptop slightly...so cleary have a hardware problem and am willing to replace the system board. Other than these lockups, computer runs perfect, great LCD screen, good drives, quiet machine

Problem is that have found it hard to find a replacement board. All the A22m boards on ebay are bad. Have found a few cheap and brand new A20m boards. These are also for type 2628, but not for 2628-PSU, but I have verified that they support my 15" XGA LCD and my CPU. So my question is wouuld the P/N 12P3156 from a A20m fit into my A22m 2628-PSU laptop????

Thanks for any info.

thanks for the link,

A22m system board:

26P8106 PLANAR - 26P8106 $550.00

hmm....cost is a little prohibitive for a 3 year old laptop, can
probably just get another laptop at that price.
I can get a A20m new motherboard for $60 on ebay,
but can't find a A22m one. Perhaps I just have to be patient.

You might want to try www.bluestarusa.com . I was able to get a refurbished 26P8106 for $225 plus shipping.

The board arrived the day after I placed the order and it's working great.
