Recommending an R series for a friend

#1 Post by bhtooefr » Thu Sep 01, 2005 9:56 am

A friend of mine wondered what kind of laptop to get, so I obviously recommended a ThinkPad.

She said that the most intensive tasks she used it for were MP3 playing...

She wanted something fast, though. (Her current system is a four year old Athlon, don't know if it's classic, T-Bird, or XP)

So, here's what I picked:

ThinkPad R50e (Think Express Program) New
1842SUU
1.60 GHz Intel® Pentium® M, Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, 512 MB, 60 GB, 6.58 lbs, 15.0" XGA (1024x768), No security subsystem, Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection 802.11b/g, 10/100 Ethernet, Integrated graphics Intel Extreme Graphics 2, Multi-burner DVD Recordable, Fixed Bay
Availability**: Within 2 weeks
$1,199.00 web price*
$1,099.00 sale price*

And, yes, it needs XP Pro for this school network. How did I do? Also, Bill gives 10% off, right? Is it off of the sale or web price?
Current: 365XD (120 MHz, 72 MiB, 6.4 GB, 4x CD-ROM, 10.4" TFT)
Past: T61p 15.0" QXGA, T60p 15.0" QXGA, X61 Tablet SXGA+, R51e 14.1" XGA, X21
