R51, Wireless 2200

#1 Post by jpdarcis » Mon Sep 05, 2005 9:36 am

On my R51, I keep having problems using IBM Connections because, although the connection is working, it reports that "Radio is Off" (which of course is not the case). Related or not, I cannot install the latest Intel pro 2200 wireless driver (9.0) which ever way I try to do it: although installation is successful from IBM software perspective, Window says the driver did not load properly. I have to revert to 8.x to get back my wireless.

I have tried every trick I can think of to get out of this predicament which limits the benefits of IBM Connection: even installing the driver in Safe Mode. It does intall, but rebooting normally gets me back where I started.

There has to be something I did not think of, and I hope one of you experts will show me the light ...

Thanks

I've found that Connections creates more problems than it solves. I uninstall it and then update the wireless driver using Software Installer. But then again, I connect to an open network.
