How is the R52 build quality vs. T43?

#1 Post by red_dragon » Tue Sep 06, 2005 7:34 pm

Just wondering how the build quality of the R52 compares to say a T43 or T42. Probably looking to get an R52 if it's not crappy. Thanks for any advice!

I don't think the overall built quality is lower than on t4x series. Though there are some differences; dimensions and weight for instance. The main difference is performance.

R or T is due to your need. Mobility or reliability when at the same time low price. R is solid and you shouldn't worry about its performance, just pick your favorite spec.

I have recently bought an R52 with no defects at all. Very satisfied.

Major difference is that R52 no longer have FlexView SXGA+ displays. Otherwise the performance is nearly the same.

I would like to hear why T43p would have better performance than R52.

I have understood that atm when writing this, the only differencies are in outershell material and shape and so on in total weight. Other difference is Puppy earlier mentioned, in display.

The true differences between the R, and T series, are as follows. The T series uses a different material than the R series case (Titanium alloy in T, not in R), and the optical drive sizes are different. T's use "Ultra Slim" drives (9.5mm), while those found in the R series are "enhanced" - which are several mm thicker. Both models use the same CPU's and memory. The T series is thinner and lighter, as well as a bit more rugged, due to the materials in the case.
