R50 CDR drive question, anyone else...

#1 Post by Batwoman » Thu Sep 15, 2005 3:37 pm

Hi guys,

I've been meaning to ask some of my other buddies but since I'm at work and my boss is some what on my case about this, I decided to go look for answers on the general web.

I've got an R50 with a TEAC DW-225 CDRW drive.

I used Memorex CD-RW discs without any problems, managed to burn things to about 2 different discs, then it decided it didn't like the discs and I have yet to get my burner to work with them.

Now here's the thing, I use Memorex CD-R with no problem. With the excpetion of the last batch I bought where 3 out of 10 my burner didn't seem to like, but our burner at church liked it fine (had to test to see if we had bad master discs or if it was the burner itself).

Also, lately I've found that once in a while when I pop a CD in (usually music) the drive doesn't read it at first. I have to pop it out and back in. Sometimes it reads it right away, other times it takes a few tries before the reader will wake up and join me.

Anyone else have this happen to them, and if so what'd you do? Other than take it into the shop, or replace it youreslf that is. I can't afford to do either since my laptop's a few months out of warrenty and I don't have the spare cash to buy a new drive. I need RAM first, something that's going to be put on hold once again. *sigh*

THANKS!

If you're going to use RW media, try using >4x media.

Ah, so that's the trick. Thanks!

I what I was originally using for RW was 700MB 1-4X

and then my boss handed me a new stack that was 650MB 1-4X Got that one to work after I posted yesteday, but so far it's just the 1. I haven't had need to try and burn more than 1 disc. Will 'stay in touch' as needed though.

Thanks again!
