Disc Drive not working

#1 Post by bigoxygen » Sat Sep 17, 2005 10:39 pm

Hello.

My CDRW/DVD drive is not being detected in the software. It is powered (i can eject the disc and see the light is blinking), but I can not see it as a drive in my computer. I bought a new drive, hoping it would solve the problem, but it also is not being detected. Is this a problem of my r40 computer?

Thanks

In the device manager, do you see any alerts that there is a driver issue?

There's no alert...

It just says AXV DC/DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device (should be a panasonic drive)...even if I eject the drive.

I'd try adding a new device, selecting the right driver, and essentially reinstalling it.

I think that AXV drive is something installed by Alcohol. . ?

Try booting into the service partition and running the diags on the optical drive.
