I just got my brand new R51 2883-2XU a few days ago and swapped out the 20GB HD with a blank 60GB HD that I have. While the machine recognizes the hard drive, I cannot access the BIOS through pressing the "Access IBM" button on startup. As soon as I press the button, nothing happens and it automatically goes to PXE (network) boot.
What I haven't tried is to put the stock 20GB HD back in and try to press the "Access IBM" button on startup yet. I wonder if there is something on the original HD that gets me to the BIOS on these machines.
Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?
Thanks,
Joe

The blue "Access IBM" button doesn't take you to the BIOS - it takes you software located on the hidden partition of your original HDD that allows you to restore the system to OEM configuration.
To access the BIOS, press F1 when the IBM logo comes up.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
Thanks, it worked!K. Eng wrote:The blue "Access IBM" button doesn't take you to the BIOS - it takes you software located on the hidden partition of your original HDD that allows you to restore the system to OEM configuration.

The "Access IBM" button on my R40 had taken me to the BIOS, but I guess with the new platform, there's a different way of accessing the BIO.
