Will this memory work in my R40-2681?

#1 Post by JEBB » Mon Sep 26, 2005 4:30 pm

The Thinkpad specs say PC2100 memory. But I have a 256MB PC2700 stick in it now and it works fine. Can anyone tell me if I put this yet faster one in it and expect it to work or where I might find that information? Thanks.

Hmm.. You do realize that the bus speed of the system will only run so fast, right? I'm saying faster memory will not speed the system up, as the system is only going to run so fast... However, adding more memory is always nice for your computer...

Your next 512MB DDR module should have 16 chips on it.

I prefer to use matching modules in a laptop although you don't have to..

PC2700 is what I have - works just fine. Just runs at 2100 mb/s instead of 2700 mb/s.

I don't think you can find many pc2100 sticks anymore anyway.

I've since realized that the memory module I asked about is indeed a PC2700, not yet faster, so it ought to work. I purchased one.
