Access IBM ?

#1 Post by jparrot427 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:01 am

Hello,
I would like to get the opinon of others here about the new v 3.0 of Restore and Recover. I have installed it on my G-41 and I can not find any data or information about this new dialogue that comes up on booting, lasts maybe 4 seconds and has a blue ball moving right then left. It say nothing about what it does.

I have had to use R&R once and I think that this is the best thing to hit us since sliced bread. The G-41 did not crash, I installed a larger HD. I also back up to a slim, 2.5", USB HD of 20 gigs. Peace of mind this is.
Two Thinkpads G-41.
Thinkpad i Series 1200 and 3 1300.
Thinkpad 365 XD ( exchanged for a $100 rebate ).
All on WiFi and Ultra VNC. Have fun ! I do.

When I installed V 3.0 of Rescue and Restore on 27 Sept it set up an "R" Partition on my 40 gb disk that has a label "SECUREDISK". It (SECUREDISK) consumed approximately 15 gb and according to IBM support center the only way to get rid of it (SECUREDISK) is to reinstall the factory settings. Does anyone know how to easily remove the R partition and not have Rescue and Restore make another R partition?

The IBM logo with the dots moving left to right is a mystery to me also...no idea what it is doing.

Hello Peter. You wrote :

Some Thinkpads have a security chip that will look for PW or a finger print when installed. This is what is going on when booting. I do not have that chip in my G41.

Be good. JP.
