Choose new hard disk and backup old hard disk data.

#1 Post by mgiammarco » Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:06 am

Hello,
I have made a big mistake : I bought my r50p with a 4200 rpm 60G hard disk.

Now I would like to change it for a 7200 rpm model.

Could you suggest me a model compatible with mine? 60gb or 80gb (100gb costs too much).

Obviously it should be a model compatible with ibm active protection system and with frequent power downs (as I have seen in other posts).

In my current hard disk I have windows, linux, and the hidden ibm partition. I would like to copy all these partitions on new one.
Which is the best way to do it?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion!

Ok I have googled internet and forum. Now questions are simpler:

- where can I find a comparison between seagate momentus 7200.1 AND hitachi 7k100 ?

- I cannot find on my thinkpad the ibm software to backup hidden partition to cdrom: where is it?
