Help with replacing t22 motherboard

#1 Post by ahx9 » Thu Sep 29, 2005 8:34 pm

Hi. I got the crc01 error a few weeks back, and IBM wanted $800 to replace the motherboard, so I just ordered this whole base (including cpu) for my t22 from ebay:

I went through the hardware manual on how to remove parts. Is there anyone here who can just give me some tips on this so I don't break anything.

1. My t22 model number is 2647-m5u (900 mhz). The item that I bought doesn't have a model number, but it shouldn't matter since I am replacing the whole base, right???

2. Which are the extra delicate parts that I need to be careful while replacing? I read a post where some guy broke the keyboard while installing a new motherboard.

3. Do I really need a new CMOS battery and new screws? I opened my old 560x a couple of times and used the same screws.

Basically, I just wanted advice from someone who has gone through this. Any help would be appreciated.

I just upgraded a T20 with a T22 mainboard, upgraded the CPU to a 1GHZ. Just keep track of the screws. That will be the bigest advice I can give. Just take your time and follow the guide...it is just that easy. Don't do it when you are tired though.

1- Correct

2- Be careful of all of the parts and make sure they all are properly seated when putting it back together
