Access Connections & Wireless

Two problems that could be related on my A30p.
Hope someone can give me some ideas:

1. When connected by wire, Access Connections still shows
my status as disconnected. I can access the web and it still
says I am disconnected.

2. I just purchased a new SMC2804WBRP-G and my A30p cannot
connected to it. Meanwhile, my older Thinkpad with a Dlink wireless
adapter works fine. I triple-checked my WEP and MAC settings.
And, I also downloaded new Thinkpad drivers & firmware for the
wireless adapter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
