IBM T23 DVD driver Full Version

#1 Post by miketoby » Tue Oct 04, 2005 3:52 pm

Hello,

I have an IBM T23 that i have installed a new Hard drive and installed it with a new Version of windows xp pro. MY DVD does not work and i tried to download the driver from IBM but it has only the update version and not the full version. How do i get the dvd drivers for my notebook? Thanks in advance for the help.

Mike

Sorry for not giving you the full info. It will not play DVD disc but will work as a cd-rom. I have search the ibm site but it does not have a driver for my situation, just an update only. Is it possible to get the original driver for it? If anyone out there has the driver, can they email it to me? In the meantime i will try the free driver as sugested. Thank you for the quick response.

I need the DVD to work because i do a lot of driving and my 5 year old watch his dvds on my notebook during trips. Thanks again.

Mike

Wow. The K-lite codec works super great. I also update the media player to ver 10 and it also works. Thank you very very much for the help. You have made my life a lot better and wish you guys the same.

Mike

When you say that it doesn't work, do you mean that it doesn't read discs, or that it doesn't play DVDs?

If it doesn't play DVDs, do you have a DVD player and DVD Codecs installed? If not, search on google for K-Lite if you want a free DVD player/codecs.

If it doesn't read discs at all, then it might be a faulty drive. DVD drives don't usually need a driver, in Win XP.

Windows Media Player 10 plays commercial DVD movies. You should have it already, but if not, just run Windows Update and it should be a choice for download.

You cannot get the original DVD program that came with the T23 (unless someone gives you a copy). However there are deals out there for external DVD burners that come with DVD software. This summer I bought a Lite-On external USB DVD burner that came with CyberLink's PowerDVD for $130 at Office Max. Many here buy full size DVD burners like you would use in a desktop, and put them in external USB enclosures. I see NEC is highly recommended here, but I am not sure what software comes with it.
