A22m and Adapter Plug/Port?

I have an A22m Thinkpad. The previous owner said either to solder something onto the adapter port or replace the adapter port (where the power adapter plugs into the Thinkpad). Which would be easier? Is there an alternative to the above? :?:

PS I won the A22m at a Warpstock convention ( http://www.warpstock.org ) in Hershey PA. It was just the Thinkpad and power adapter. 8) It runs eComStation ver 1.2 ( http://www.ecomstation.com ). 8)

ColdHeat Solderer !

I will give my new Cold Heat solderer a try in my attempt to repair the power adapter port on my A22m.

It seems more like a desktop replacement notebook comuter since it is on the heavy side and has both a diskette drive and a cdrom drive.
