Z50t questions

#1 Post by own6volvos » Mon Oct 10, 2005 4:17 pm

Will the 14" widescreen version be released with a discrete video card, or will it be limited to shared memory only?

I guess you are referring to the Z60t. :)
IIRC, the t model will be offered with an on-board graphics solution while the 'm' models would have the option of a dedicated graphics card.
Current: 1. T400 - 14" WXGA+ LED - T9400 - 4GB DDR3 - 320GB HDD - Mobility Radeon 3470
2. T42 - 14" XGA - P-M 745 - 1.5 GB - 60GB HDD - Radeon 9000 - biometrics
Previous: ThinkPad T43, X32, X61, R50e

Kinda noticed I mixed that up a bit

Now when are the "good" m models coming out?

I guess the last week of October would be a good bet.

I was interested in buying Z60t for my wife and I talked to IBM folks and they said Z60t with Dedicated Video Ram and Higher Resolution WSXGA will be announced in Ocotober mid to Last week.

so let's wait for few more weeks and see what is out.

I think you got lied to - maybe they were confusing it with the Z60m

After going through *MANY* reviews and whatnot of the new Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 setups, my mind has been eased on the idea of getting a laptop with integrated graphics.

One thing I like is the 4 pipelines currently, and the builtin support for mpeg4 and Hd content.

They have a nice review on this stuff, just look at the super low CPU usage stats for the playing of various video formats  .
