Upgrading wireless

I would like to upgrade the Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b card so I can get at least g. IBM doesn't list an cards for this model (R40) but some auctions on eBay say that there are a/b/g cards and others say they are not compatible, so I'm not sure which is correct.

I've been reading and searching but haven't found any information that is truly definitive.

one of our customer insall abg card on R40
2681-CDG thinkpad. 2681-CDG Pentium 4 1.9GHz, 256MB, 16MB VRAM, 20GB, 14.1 TFT, DVD/CD-RW, modem

I check your laptop, which is using P4 2.2G. also on the list of abg wifi card.

that matrix shows only b cards

b/g wifi cards for T40 wont work on R40, you will get bios error message.

That's is true however in in the one that Wireless4laptops's refers to there is a a/b/g wireless card that is compatible.
