If you don't own a Thinkpad.
Then you're not thinking!!
Then you're not thinking!!
I have owned one.
Heavy, desktop replacement. Not something you want to carry around everyday.
Wedge shaped cause of large cpu heatsink/fan in the back. It is a desktop P4 or Celeron-D CPU. Good performance. Noisy when the CPU heats up- it usually idles, and so does the fan.
For some reason the floppy is permanently mounted not in a removable bay.
Integrated Intel video/ not a big deal if you're not a 3D gamer.
Lousy single speaker with poor volume- barely adequate for watching a DVD or listening to music- has jack for external headphones or speakers though.
Nice, large keyboard and huge palmrest.
USB version 2 ports.
Will probabally be able to run Windows Vista okay(without the fancy graphics) if you wish.
I ended up keeping an older A31 (I'm using that rignt now) and selling the G40 though. Just decided the A31 was overall better for me.
But still, it is a ThinkPad!

I don't own one but I have used one at my school and also had no problems with it.Thinkpadgranddad wrote:Yeah, does anyone own one of these? Can,someone give me some information about it?I've been looking at them at www.niceelectronics.com & www.electrodiscounts.com
I think that they are as good as any other ThinkPad.
The G series is mostly for users who want the feel of a desktop and who don't move their laptops that much (who keep their laptops on the desk most of the time) and who keep them mostly in AC power and battery life doesn't matter.
ThinkPads: R51 (1836HAU), T41 (23737FU), 600 (264551U), T60 (2008VRQ), T500 (224255U)
I Love (all) ThinkPads...ThinkPad forever!

I've had mine for 2 years and love it. I also buy them for all my mechanics and my salesmen here at work. (of course now they're G41's) I actually do travel with mine, so do the guys here at work.
