thinkpad crc1 - 175...
Hi - any luck so far?
I have same problem on my t20 (no bios passwords set).
CRC error 175, thanks for coming!
I will be building my eeprom reader/writer tomorrow.
Have you read your eeprom yet? I'd love to see the file and compare it with my corrupt one.
maybe if only 1 or 2 bytes are corrupt, then we will be able to figure out what to do, reprogram that SOB, and then we'll both be happy!!
I'm guessing you've found this site??
http://www.serviceforum.lx.ro/viewforum ... ea82ddcda5
hoping we can work together on this one!!
Cheers,
Glyn.

I built myself a reader according to a different site: http://www.ja.axxs.net/unlock/
I believe it works the same way that the reader that is mentioned at the link in the above post. I built and generated a .bin for my T23 eeprom. At the time, I didn't know about the site mentioned above in the previous post, so I paid the money and was told the password. It does work. It generates a file called 'km6.bin'. This same device can be used to recover from CRC errors as well, although I only used it to generate the km6.bin file, and this worked perfectly.
I mention this because assuming the .bin is the same as you would generate using the previously mentioned site, then there does exist a file on the internet that I believe is for a T20. The site is in Polish I think so I am not certain. Therefore use at your own risk. The km6.bin file is attached the the first post: http://www.elitesecurity.org/tema/45297
Incidently, I have used ibmpass to see what the password is from this file, and I believe, if I am using the tool properly, the password is RZZI.
Unfortunately I can't verify that the tool will work on this KM6.bin file becasue just a couple of weeks ago my hard drive failed, and so I lost the file that I generated for my own T23. It would have been interesting to see if the password that ibmpass would give is the same one that I paid for and actually worked.
Since I do have my reader still built, I may lock my labtop and then generate a new km6.bin and then see if ibmpass can decode the password. It is just such a huge pain in the a** to solder those tiny wires!
Anyway, good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

It seems that the owner of the site I mentioned above, http://www.ja.axxs.net/unlock/ , has actually removed the instuctions from his site, and now requires you to pay first before you can see them. Tha is too bad. He used to have all the instructions posted as well as full instructions on how to build the reader, and would only require payment when you submit your .bin file for password recovery.
