i would get the R51..

Peronally, I'd go with a T series hehe .. but failing that the obvious choice to me between the two would be the 50p because of the nice high res screen. I would sacrifice drive space (which you can add later) for better resolution on the panel (which you cannot add later).

go with R50p, but i guess you already bought R51.


R50 & R50p were limited special editions for the R series (not R50e).

They were true workstations, even though not as thin as T. It got awesome ratings from CNET and other sources.

You have to consider the motherboard, graphics card, etc.

I have an R50, and it is an awesome laptop. I'm able to play the HL2 series of games on this and even UT2k4!!!! I have the 14.1 screen and the weight is maybe 5.5-6 pounds. I bought the extended battery so I can get about 5-6 hours out of it. Paid 100 on ebay for a IBM sealed box!

5-6 hours on low performance? is that with running alot of programs?

Thats like web brosing and IM'ing and easy stuff....soon as I start UT2004 it DRAINS it fast.....

I can get about 2 movies out of it!!!

well i must say that is much better than the battery the R50 came with..if i am lucky i can possibly squeeze 4 hours out of it..
