Any 2010 errors when upgrading drives?

#1 Post by Photoshopped » Fri Oct 14, 2005 3:40 am

Anybody know if the Z60ts give the same errors that the T43s doe when you use a non IBM drive? Specifically I want to use a 7K100 100GB SATA when it becomes available.

it shouldn't give any 2010 error messages because there is no PATA/SATA bridge connector on the Z series, but I'm not certain.

I'm 99% certain that the Z series uses the native SATA interface on the ICH6-M. There shouldn't be any 2010 problems, as those are related to the SATA->PATA bridge on the T43.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Has anyone actually tried it though?

While I know what the original purpose of the error was, it would have resulted in more official option drives being sold by IBM/Lenovo so maybe they decided to keep it.

Unfortunately I don't have any other SATA laptop drives to try.

We might do a SATA drive roundup in the future, but not in any near time frame. If we were to do so, we'd probly use the Z60t.
