Think Vantage Access Connections

#1 Post by shayeh » Sun Oct 16, 2005 12:33 am

I have a TP A21m. This TP does not have ant built in wireless capabilities. I am using an Orinoco WiFi card plugged into the PC Card slot and it works just fine running under the Orinoco software.

I like the concept of the Access Connection enabeling me to quickly switch configurations for the various locations and access points that I use.

When I installed the software (ver 3.81 using the Lenovo software installer), the program loads but it does not seem to find any wireless signals even though there are 2 very strong access points broadcasting. My Orinoco software has no problem picking up these signals.

So, my question is, how do I configure Access Connections to detect the signals. Is it possible that Acccess Connections only works with certain cards? Do I have to disable the Orinoco software if I run Access Connections?

I have the same issue with Access Connections and my SMC 802.11b card. The SMC software works fine and offers profiles. Access Connections just seems to screw things up.

I think I'm going to just uninstall it tonight, but I'm searching the forum for features that access connections has that might be better than my SMC software. Maybe its worth getting it working...

I tried with a Planet WGT54 PCMCIA wirless card and wont work so....

I had Access Connections working fine with my Intel 2200BG (T42), until I installed some new drivers, and then it stopped working... These drivers are a pain.

Now I just use the Windows utility.
