Cmos Battery (Back Up) T21

#1 Post by Ralfalla » Thu Oct 20, 2005 8:54 am

My T21 is 4.5 years old (2647-97U); I should change this battery soon.
Where can I get one?
Is it complicated to change?

Thanks
Roberto

While I havent changed one my self on a T21, it appears to be very easy based on your Hardware Maintenance Manual:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 2p9631.pdf

It appears that it is right beneath your standard battery pack, if you turn your T21 upside down.

If the battery is the same as my cmos battery on my T23, you should get one from IBM directly or eBay. I tried to get a battery from my local drug store and thought I could just tape it into the battery holder but it didn't work. Apparently, you need to use some tool to attach the battery connects to the front and back of the battery. My friend recommended a jeweler.

cheers,
:)

Just Google the part number that you get from the Hardware Maintenance Manual (link in tfflivemb2 post above), and you should find a number of suppliers for the backup battery.
