t20 problems.....

#1 Post by pho shizzle » Sat Oct 22, 2005 9:20 pm

i got a t20 used about 6 months ago and i put win2k on it. then last week i started getting bluescreens that said something about the bios being incompatable with acpi. i tried to install the latest bios but since i already had it, it wouldn't install.

so i tried installing winxp. had to try a few times before i finally got it with no bluescreens, but after it was installed i kept getting bluescreens. i tried a different hard drive and it's the same thing.

now when i boot i get "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: system32\drivers\pci.sys." i get the same error with either hard drive. if i try to repair the installation from the cd, i get "file setupdd.sys could not be loaded. the error code is 7"

any ideas?

thanks

edit: i just pulled a piece of ram out to see what happens. now i can get into windows. we'll see how long it'll last tho...

Did you tested RAM for errors ? Use MemTest to verify that it still good. http://www.memtest.org/

its rather bad RAM problem or the system board is starting to die...

Try to change in the BIOS the PCI devices IRQ to AUTO SELECT...
