PIII 800M seems a little slower now even for common use.

X20-X24 CPU cannot be replaced. T20-T23, A30-A31 CPU can be replaced.

X22 has integrated cpu in the system board, cannot be changed

If the HD is original it must be pretty slow. Consider getting a 7200 rpm HD. That will boost the performance quite a bit. My X24 has a new HD, 5400 rpm 8MB cache, and for most uses I feel perfectly comfortable using it for web browsing and office applications.

Yes, recommend you choose a 5K100 60-80GB 5400, 8MB. You can also upgrade to 1GB SDRAM(512*2).
