#1 Post by ttan98 » Thu Nov 17, 2005 10:28 pm

Anyone successfully overclock a T22 or T23?
Is it worth the effort?

It would be better if you upgrade the processor in it. For instance, if you have a T22 with 900Mhz.....u might wanna consider looking for a 1000Mhz processor. However for a T23, the max CPU available is a 1200Mhz.

I think it would be advisable just to upgrade the ram or a faster hard drive (e.g Hitachi 7200 rpm drive) instead of the processor. You won;t notice any difference thou....
-Thinkpad T23 1.2Ghz (2647-4RG) with Docking Station (2631)
-512MB RAM
-60GB Western Digital HDD
-3Com X-Jack Wireless A/B/G
-Imation External Combo DVD/CDRW
-Windows XP Pro SP2
-External 160GB Maxtor HDD

Don't do it! Overclocking a laptop - even if you could get the board to do it - would just be asking (a) to void your warranty and (b) become a nice thigh burner.

Production laptops have inadequate cooling. After a replacement motherboard I found out the hard way. Leave the overclocking to desktops with plenty of room for fans, big power supplies, and liquid cooling.

Try upgrading the CPU if you can. It's a better bang for the buck.

No. There are no BIOS settings or dips to change, etc.

You can max out the 22 w/ a 1Ghz CPU and the 23 w/ a 1.2Ghz CPU.
