IBM Thinkpad TFT problem

#1 Post by sco1984 » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:46 am

Hello ,
I have IBM Thinkpad R50e-1834-EQ1 .

2 days ago i found a small niddle size black spot on my XGA TFT .

I went to IBM service centre

The person told me that they dont considor 1 or 2 or 3 spots .

I was shocked. He handed over a paper which was about IBM's regulations when they considor the TFT as faulty. Here i give a link which explains .

It's always this way with any LCD manufacturer. If you really want a new LCD, you can try checking if your unit is covered under ThinkProtect, and try to claim a new LCD.

If you search the PC Magazine & PC Computing archives at their Web Sites, the issue was covered this year. A major Computing journalist wrote that PC Makers tell people a certain low number of bad pixels are not reason for exchange or repair... He tells owners of new, in warranty Laptops what they can do about this if they find the policy unacceptable. I am not sure but the writer may be Macrone.
