IBM T30 - upgrade ram

#1 Post by neuroxvision » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:53 pm

i was wondering, how hard is it to upgrade the ram/memory? i know where it is located. is it as easy as take out the old one and put in the new one or is it harder than it seem?

can someone please help me and give me instruction? i dont want to waste money and have someone else do it for me, their price is to high.

thank you.

Turn machine over, unplug, remove battery, open the memory cover located near the left front of the machine near the HD, insert ram, put cover back on etc. etc. If you push the thinkpad button and go to "how do I" there is a tutorial on how to do this and many other things.

I really don't know what the max configuration for memory is on this machine, pretty sure it is at least 1 gig. I have 512 in mine bought an extra 256 from IBM and installed it. There are some good tutorials on the IBM web site, search for your model, you can also get pdf manuals etc. There is also a TA book which will show the configuration of your model.

This might might be useful to you, it is your hardware maintenance manual:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 2p1840.pdf

It will tell you how to work on anything on/in your laptop.

Edit: ooops, Kyocera beat me to it. :)
