Opening Up a T22 and cleaning the fan.

#1 Post by ttan98 » Fri Nov 25, 2005 7:31 am

I have an old T22 which is >3years old, it had been used fairly extensively over the 3 yrs. It still works VERY well indeed. I don't want it to stop working even though I have a spare T23 in hand which is relatively newer.

I like to open up the T22 to do some spring cleaning ie mainly the CPU fan and remove the DUST which had accumulated over the years. The question is, I have not opened up a T22 before, I am afraid if I open it I would not be able to put back all the parts to their original position, because the parts are tighly packed in such a small enclosure.

I am sure you fellows out there must have done this before. Any advise? a few diagrams or direct me to a web site or manual which may help me open up this unit.

Thanks :)

Get the hardware manual from IBM (it's downloadable) and it'll take you through it step by step. Some patience and it's easy.

You can download the hardware maintenance manual (very detailed instructions) here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-45956
The HMM applies to all T2x

I used the maintenance manual as a visual guide when I replaced my T-21's system board. The pics made it easy.
