Don't get your hopes up on recieving a z60
Just got off the phone with a IBM rep earlier today, and was told my order that was placed the 11th of November probably won't ship out until early to mid january. They still lie about the 2-4 weeks on thier website (really 2 months), and don't even clue you in on the outrageous ship dates until you have placed your order.

I placed my order on the 1st of November. Initial ship date was the 14th of November, which came and went. It then slipped to the 21st of November.. which also came and went.
Its now stuck on the 21st Nov as the estimated ship date (even though this date has long past) - makes me wonder if they've just given up?
To make it worse, i've been promised on no less than 3 separate ocassions by the IBM sales team that it will ship 'sometime this week', but so far this has not happened. When pressed for information, they cannot tell me what the hold up is or when the laptop will actually ship. Does anyone know what on earth is going on over there? I suspect their is some component that they are critically short of.
More importantly, is this how we can exepct Lenovo to execute on their new ThinkPad products?? Seems to me as if this once revered brand is now on a slippery slope in the hands of these guys...

"Nobody Knows when your laptop gonna ship"
I ordered z60t on Oct 24th-->intially they said 6 weeks..fair..atleast.. they quoted a long time.so the intial Estimated Shipping Date ->Dec 5th,
Now my order status says Estimated Shipping Date is 12/28/05..
called them many times, but kept getting different answers at different times & Someone at Lenovo says "Nobody Knows when your laptop gonna ship"....
thats funny ..ain't it.
recently they said my system is "packing".. dont know the truth anyway.

I ended up canceling my z60m order and going with the HP nc6230. Maybe an IBM next time 2-3 years from now if things have improved. My HP/compaq looks to be around the same build quality as the IBM, if not better in some aspects (just a wee tad slimmer) and it arrives monday. Quite nice when you can order something and it ships SAME DAY.
Lenovo has some serious Supply Chain Delays
I ordered my Z60t on 18th November, with a promised shipping date of 21st Dec. When on 21st nothing happened I called them up and they told me that it was held up due to the memory and the asset tag. I asked them to ship these parts as different packages. So the z60t shipped on 22nd and no Standard 2 day shipping here as claimed by their website, only UPS ground.
The memory shipped on 23rd, the asset tag was dropped from the order.
The memory ships from hong kong and the customs dont allow stuffs from hong kong

It appears that Lenovo ships systems rather arbitrarily as I ordered my Z60t on 12/06 and received 12/12. No customs issues for me, although I have heard of numerous others with delays on another board. Sorry to hear about your delays.
FWIW: For personal reasons I have my Z60t posted on the For Sale forum. Well equipped machine at what I consider to be a fair price. If you feel different then send me a PM.

I ordered mine on 1/17 and it was received on 1/27. Originally the estimated ship time was 1/21, but it kept getting push back a day or two every time I checked it, and it finally got shipped out on 1/26 via Overnight delivery and I got it on the morning of 27th.
Maybe it was because I purchased a less demanding configuration?

I returned the HP being less than impressed with the screen (and squeaky keyboard). I then placed a 2nd order with IBM with the hopes of getting a laptop from them again. It appears I gave them too much hope because they are shattering dreams once againtfflivemb2 wrote:own6volvos wrote:I ended up canceling my z60m order and going with the HP nc6230. I got the 25136RU, which is 1.86GHz, 60GB, 512MB, business black with DVD-RW and 3yr warranty.
On a side note, I kinda regret geting this one because the "usable" space of the HD is about 5~10GB less than the 60GB HD of my old Vaio S150. Now I'm either going to upgrade to a bigger HD and use this 60GB in an external enclosure, or just buy a 200GB external ones I've seen on Bensbargain.

u should wait till the 160gb laptop hardrives come out soon plus ther is nothing like the biuld quality of an ibm, between signature hardware, software and drivers there's alot that they do more then most other brands. btw, how is the Z series anyway? worth it? ive been looking into it and it has me wondering

I like my Z60t so far, except for the part where the battery sticks out.. Now I'm shopping for a sleeve/case to protect this laptop with.
The keyboard feels more solid than my Vaio, and the screen is bright enough for my use (although it still doesn't come close to the XBrite screen I had on my Vaio). Another small problem is the slowness of the booting. I still have all the factory-installed stuff on it and it takes a while for the computer to boot up after I swiped my fingerprint.

Any bets on this joke of a company making me wait 3 months to get a laptop from them? Not enough of THESE to get the point across to them
I am going to hold out to see if this ever comes, just so I can tell the horrible story of the experiences I have put up with IBM, and make sure everyone knows to buy something else if they want to get it in any reasonable amount of time.

A good friend of mine ordered a Z60m on News Year's day and he received it in a couple weeks...I know it was less than three. He's had it for a couple weeks and loves it.
Not sure which model he bought, but it cost about $2,000 iirc. Ti cover, 100GB HDD, 1GB Ram, DVD-RW, x600 vidcard, 300 nit screen, not sure about the proc speed. Wireless of course. I think it was the most loaded model available.

And wait till summer before I get a laptop? Z60 was officially released oct 2005. Just imagine how long it will be before the T60's start shipping to individuals. It seems as though IBM is putting business first, and any business that orders then no matter at what time gets them before any consumer.a31pguy wrote:So are you going to cancel it and buy a T60p?
Ordered it on 2/13 at 4 pm and received it on 2/14 at 11:30 am (OK, I paid for the overnight delivery
). PCConnection!
Interesting: the manufacture date on the box 02/07/06.
PS - BTW, it exceeds my expectations ... and I do have a pretty high expectations and standard owning 15" PowerBook and some other neat stuff

On a side note, i also had a 15" Powerbook but sold it in order to finance my Z60T purchase.
Lenovo Canada -
Hey there Ericssonboi... did you order it via Lenovo Canada? I ordered three units (plus docking + protection) last week and have yet to receive any shipping confirmation. The sales person is responsive and seems helpful, but I still don't have anything confirming that the shipment is moving. I was willing to look at an expedited service (via FedEx or something) but apparently no extra service is available as Lenovo moved into some new warehouse or something.ericssonboi wrote:

Just wondering if you have received your unit yet.
As soon as these units hit the West Coast, I'll look into the B/T part - either via Lenovo Parts Canada or U.S.
I just thought of something... I hope Lenovo's warranty + protection service is better than their point-of-sale & shipping. I've been using HP for a few years and have had warranty parts + service from back East as quick as next day...

Re: Lenovo Canada -
I've called them about 3 times already... the last time the guy was really helpful. Usually they just tell me... you should receive it by the end of the month. But the last time i called... I was told that they should receiving about 29 of them and i'm 26th on the waiting list. I had ordered extra ram for the Thinkpad and there was a delay on the ram. It was spose to be another week before the ram would arrive so i told them to ship out the ram after and send me the Thinkpad first. I can't wait.kru-inc wrote:Hey there Ericssonboi... did you order it via Lenovo Canada? I ordered three units (plus docking + protection) last week and have yet to receive any shipping confirmation. Another thing you can do is check to see if your credit card has been billed yet. Usually companies bill when they ship... so if it has been shipped, you should be billed for it.
As for the warranty.. I choose the 3 year on site warranty... as i read.. .its spose to be next day or really fast service at least.
Hi,
at least here in Germany there's zero shipping delay currently for z60m/z60t. I ordered mine on wednesday from an online-retailer and found more than 60 online shops which had the exact model I was interested in available within 24 hours. Received the laptop thursday morning.
You should really have some serious talks with your IBM retailers over there...
bye!

I configured mine online this morning, saved it as a quote and called the order in. I was adding extra memory and the combo drive to a 2529-FYU. The sales rep told me if he ordered the items seperatley and I put the memory in myself, It would ship within 24 hours. Otherwise I was looking at 3/10 at the very earliest.
Delightful Surprise...
The last notification I received from my Lenovo (Canada) salesperson was that I could expect my order delivered by Friday, March 3.
Today, Mr. UPS guy dropped off a large box (3 notebooks + docking solutions). It was shipped overnight (n/c) from Lenovo. Awesome!
Unfortunately, I've been so busy all day that I've only had a chance to look at the packing statement. So the units are just sitting there doing nothing...

Well.. as i'm sitting here... I'm still disappointed without my Thinkpad.kru-inc wrote:The last notification I received from my Lenovo (Canada) salesperson was that I could expect my order delivered by Friday, March 3.

I called in last Monday and was assured that a shipment would be coming in that Friday, and that i was 26 out of 29 on the waiting list.
I call back again on Monday (yesterday) and was told that It was going to be another 2 weeks. Sigh
So now it looks like my extra memory & combo drive shipped this week from Hong Kong, but the Z60 itself is in limbo. So much for splitting it up & paying a little extra for "express" shipping...
