R50e - CDR/RW/DVD ROM RAM playback compatible or Replace it
I have just ordered a R50e with the fixed CDRW/DVD ROM optical drive, but I can't find anywhere on the web-site if it supports DVD RAM playback. If it doesn't and I need to replace it I have found on the support site how to do this, but does anyone know if the ultrabay drives will fit or can you only use the specific drive.
Any advice appreciated!

My R50e arrived. It's big and heavy. The screen is big too, it does suffer from a sweet spot near the middle and slightly fading away towards the edges, with slight whiteness near the edge, but for the price is very decent, I still think I made the right decision over a lighter one at double the price.
Built well, pleased with performance my Celeron 360 and 256MB RAM appears faster than my 3 year old PC with 1.5GB of ram.
The DVD ROM player supports playback of DVD RAM recorded straight off my Panasonic DVD Record connected up to my TV. Brilliant.

Hi,
I have IBM® Thinkpad® R50e-1834-EQ1 [ Centrino based ] .
If asking about black lines at the corners at downside corners,
it's not a problem. It's because IBM®'s technology. They use a
paper which reflects black shadow. Rest is fine according to
price. I bought for aorund US$ 800 4 months back with PC Dos
& 2 years free international warranty.
Its true that R50e laptops r heavy. But some where you must
compramise
. Screen is big. And for long working hours big screen
is good. The only bad thing i can say , it dont have Touchpad . Bad not
a big problem ha. Alright then,
Regards,
Amey Abhyankar.
