CD/DVD of OEM Z60 software??

#1 Post by roadwarrior » Sun Dec 25, 2005 5:47 pm

When I bought my Z60t new, I noticed that it did not come with a CD to restore the system to OEM specifications. Can I order one from IBM or make one in case I wanted to sell my Z60t?

You can buy one or make one, theres a manger in windows xp that helps you guide through the process. Its around 3-40 dollars from lenovo.

You should be able to make them yourself. First of all, choose quality CD/R's, as you will only be allowed to make them one time. The software will not let you make a second set.

Go to Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Recovery Media. You will see two options there: Rescue Media, & Recovery Discs. The Rescue Media should fit on (1) CD and it is for booting up into the Rescue and Recovery workspace, if you can't get there by pressing the blue Access IBM key. You can make as many copies of the Rescue Media as you like. The Recovery Discs will require several CD's (probably around 5-7). You can make only one Recovery Disc set. Be aware: The Recovery Disc set will restore the factory installed software on a hard drive while deleting all existing data on that drive. You can also buy these discs from Lenovo for $45-50 US.
