Z60t - I already own it - but dual core upgradeability?

#1 Post by boulderandrew » Tue Jan 10, 2006 7:24 pm

Let me start with: I love my new thinkpad! This is where I jump up and down on Oprah's couch like Mr. Cruise. ha ha :)

However, the dual core Intel news sort of bummed me out. I multitask quite a bit on the pad, AutoCad, plus Outlook, plus stuff running in the background, working on files etc. Long story short, the dual core would do me good.

Is there anychance that the dual core could be retrofitted to the socket or is this a completely new mother board? Sorry for goofy questions, I am sort of a hardware novice.

Best,

Andrew

It requires a new motherboard, so you can't upgrade it. New hardware is coming up so fast, so it's hard to catch up and get the latest ones.

The intel Yonah series chips take a electrically different socket than the Dothan series chips.
