Z60T Advanced Dock - DVI Support
Z60T Advanced Dock - DVI Support
I have had my Z60t (2511-E7U) for about 1.5 months. Ordered it when my t42p display went bad and needed a laptop asap. I had been using t42p with port replicator and 24" Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW 24-inch LCD (1920x1200).
Order the Advanced Dock after talking to Lenovo and expecting to be able to install a DVI video card or use the standard DVI port. No go either way.
Support now says Z60t with Intel chipset will not support ANY DVI. I called twice and got the same answer. Has anyone been successful in connecting a DVI display?

Mine won't work either
I wish I had known this before I bought the z60t. I suspect the z60m will work.
Intel graphics do not support DVI out on docking station
I did a fair amount of research prior to ordering my z60m (with ATI for this reason). Everything I found said DVI out not supported by Intel graphics - period - and not dependent on model (t vs m)
Bought Powercolor x300SE
It works like a champ with my Dell FW2405 monitor.
z60t w/ Advanced Mini Dock
Made the mistake of going w/ the Mini Dock...
The z60t's VGA signal is quite weak. And seems to degrade a little more when docked. We have a few units running with 20" DELL widescreens and the experience, at any resolution, is less than satisfying.
If we go with the (full size) Advance Dock, would we simply need to run some PCI video card - with full VGA or even DVI?

As I understand, I've made mistake of going with IGMA in Z60m and Advanced Mini Dock. So, I would like to fix it with next notebook purchase.
So, does anybody really know, will Z61m with ATI X1400 support DVI output with Advanced Mini Dock? I've asked local IBM/Lenovo support, but got no answer yet.
Thanks in advance

Yes it will. My old Z61m (with ATI X1300 graphics) supported the DVI-out port on the Advanced Mini Dock just fine. (For what it's worth, I was running it with a Dell 20" flat panel at 1680x1050.)victors wrote:So, does anybody really know, will Z61m with ATI X1400 support DVI output with Advanced Mini Dock? Thank you for answer.
And, I've got answer from IBM support on that topic. DVI support details are mentioned in Video section of detailed specs on each model. Unfortunately, I've found that most of sales people simply not aware of them.

Yep, most places you look will just say "on selected models" or "on supported models" and not give you a straight answervictors wrote:And, I've got answer from IBM support on that topic.
