tiny white dot...

i have a web image set up as background on my desktop... anyway this morning.. i found a tin white dot on the black background...
the weird thing is.. when i place my pointer on it very carefully and accurately... it transforms into a a little vertical bar.. the is about 3 mm in height. cant do anything with the little dot or the bar that only appears when the pointer is placed on it..
what the heck is this...

dont have a clue... any advise would be informative and helpful..

ok i figured it out myself... it is apparently the center button of the track point .... for scrolling on pages...
had no clue.. but now i do...
pretty neat..
