Just added Verizon WWAN Antenna to My Z60M (2529EAU)
In case any one is interested I recently ordered the parts needed to do a successful aftermarket upgrade of my stock Z60M (2529EAU) with a WWAN antenna. It works great and the unified Access Connection interface makes it really easy to connect and use.
I did take pictures of the process (I just followed the hardware maintainance model for the most part, but there were slight differences between the manual and the reality). If anyone wants a me to post some pics and a brief guide I can, maybe this weekend.

I ordered from http://acsparts.com/ they were quick, efficient, and helpful. I recently switched from T-Mobile to Verizon and have regular wireless phone service from them, I am paying ~$60/month for unlimited service. I am actually in a hotel in San Fran right now leaving this message using the connection. It works great!

Me:
Got your company from the thinkpad forums (highly recommended). I have a ThinkPad Z60m (2529E9U) and I am looking to upgrade with a WWAN antenna (verizon). Can this be done and do you have the parts number(s) if it can?
Thank you,
Ernest Loyer
The response from acsparts:
hello,
i think what you want to do is possible
but ...
not sure which parts you would need to make it happen
i do not think we have had your exact unit in yet
you may want to consider
a) checking with ibm on the exact part list
b) even if it turns out that all parts are reasonably priced
you may have to wind the cable-antenna
and / or place the card/s needed
under the sys brd or behind the lcd
in which case you may have to take aprart most of the machine
as another option
you might want to try and find a pc card to put in the slot that would accomplish all of the above at a lower cost / less work
please advise what you find out
thank you for your time

Well they are right. But they are asking you to look into the Field Maintienance Manual from Levono - which is on the website. This is where I got my parts list.
So here ya go.
EV-DO soup
(1) 26R9580 WAN Antenna Cover + LCD misc parts kit
(1) 26R9579 Misc Screw Kit
(1) 91P6959 EV-DO WWAN antenna + cable
(1) 39T5664 ThinkPad Wireless WAN EVDO Adapter Mini-PCIe Card
Add a maintienance manual, a jewelers phillips head screw driver, an exacto knife, shake and mix - viola EV-DO.
You might want to garnish with a dash of Verizon or Sprint connection utility (try the Ev-do forums) and Levono Access Connections 4.0. Serves one.

Did your Misc Screw Kit come with any black screw covers? I scratched two of mine up when I was adding Bluetooth to my Z60T and can't seem to find replacements anywhere.a31pguy wrote: EV-DO soup
