R30 - Problems with video/games

#1 Post by kittykate » Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:11 am

Hi, I have a thinkpad r30 which i use to watch video files (mp4, avi & divx) but I have to use vlc media player for as they will not play in media player/media player classic. They skip frames, stutter and are generally unusable. Using vlc isn't a problem, but now I'm trying to emulate games on the machine and these also are stuttering and almost unplayable.

I've updated my directx, graphics card (from the ibm site) and codecs drivers but still the same problem. Surely my thinkpad should be able to emulate an 8-bit game - I can play DOS games and watch DVD's (in VLC) without a hitch.

Is there anything I can do?

Improper set up of codecs may lead to video playing problems. I always download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which contains almost every codec out there, and probably everything you'll ever need.

As for emulation - what emulators are you trying? Did you try several and all of them suffer from these problems?

Do you have a wireless card?

If so, update the firmware.
