Dual Layer Burning...

#1 Post by cj3209 » Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:22 pm

Saw a Z-series at a local Office Depot and noticed that it was using a Panasonic UJ-832 drive. Now, I know this drive supports Dual Layer burning but I've been told that IBM has disabled this function in BIOS.

If someone has a Z, can you tell me if Dual Layer burning works or not with this drive?

Thanks,
CJ

I don't have any dual-layer media but I checked with an info program and neither DL standard is supported by the drive.

However, I was under the impression that the UJ-832 did not support DL and the UJ-842 (as will be in the T60) is required for this function - the T60 drive actually lists DL support on the label of the drive whereas the Z60 drive does not.

Mine shipped with a UJ-830Z drive.
