Updated Rescue and Recovery Package Problem

#1 Post by jfsmith » Wed Feb 01, 2006 9:02 pm

Just used the Software Installer to download and install the "Rescue and Recovery - Client Security Solution". After installation it advised making a new set of Recovery CD's. Now, operation of the blue "Access IBM" key, or attempting to create the recovery CD's produces a series of error messages saying the "drive or network connection that IBM Rapid Restore Ultra 4.0.lnk refers to is unavailable ..." Similar messages for "Create Recovery Disks.lnk" and "Create Rescue Media.lnk" appear -- each of them 3 times! I attempted to "repair" the installation in "Add/Remove Programs" -- no change. I'm a ThinkPad newbie -- can anyone shed light on this one?

Thanks, John

Problem resolved. The software package apparently caused the blue "IBM Access" button to call 3 dead links -- the target programs were deleted when I made the original set of recovery CD's. The new software did not require remaking the entire set -- only the Recovery Boot CD, which was to be done from the Windows Start menu -- my bad, I didn't read the note carefully.
