CD Drive eject from ltraBay issue.. won't recognize again
Found a problem with my R40. I remove the cd drive from the ultra bay either stopping it in the eject hardware in the task bar or just by poping it out of the UB with out stopping it first. At first windows complained that it couldn't be stopped correctly. I installe dteh EZeject utility and that message stopped appearing and windows was aboutt o stop it correctly.
So, it removes fine. However upon reinsertion the system doesn't find it. The light by the UB doesn't light and the CDRom drive is inoperable. However, if i put into standby or hibernate when it wakes up from either it then sees the drive.
BTW, this is when removing the whole dirve, not ejecting a CD.
This is on an R40 2681-HU1 Win XP SP2. And I did update teh firmware on the drive with no change.

a31pguy is right about the sleep mode and the PATA drives; SATA doesn't require this, but that created problems with some older versions of Linux as well. It hasn't happened to me, but I have heard of devices not showing up until the system went through one suspend/hibernate cycle.
