Upgrading R40 (2722) - First time - Any helpful tips?

#1 Post by rcadian » Fri Feb 10, 2006 5:06 pm

Hi. I'm a newbie here and have bad blocks on my three year old R40's HD. I've ordered a new HD and recovery disks from IBM and someone also suggested I upgrade from 256 memory to at least 768 by adding a 512 stick.

I've never opened up a PC before, nor obviously replaced an HD, added memory nor installed an operating system.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions and tips for when I start to do it all?

Many, many thanks?

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

You should have a go at the HMM first before you open up your R40; the HDD is easy to replace and so is the memory if you are just adding a 512 stick. HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
