Ordered early Dec, received Feb 10th.
So far so good. Fan runs all the time. Will install fan control utility.

How's your hard disk drive?

Besides mine, I really don't want another notebook. I'm new in thinkpad-world (have my z60-2529 EPG for 4 weeks now) and I think I will stay for a while! Enjoy!

In summary, like the z60m a lot.

Installed fan control and shut down the blowing sound coming out of the left side which tends to be a loud whoosh. But there seems to be another fan that whirs all the time right underneath my right palm. Will read the posts and see if changing the settings might help. I'm downloading nero 7 and typing this and the left blower just turned on with 50C fan 3 setting. Don't know why it runs this hot.

I have a friend with a z60t, and my keyboard feels better, without the higher pitched click like the z60t. The travel also seems less deep on mine.

Have the 100g hard disk, repartitioned to 2 others in addition to preload C and ibm's recovery partition.

Have the dvd burner but haven't done any editing on Ulead yet.

I'm glad you like your Z60m. I have a Z60t less than week and I call it my dream machine. I certainly waited long enough for it. I ordered in on Nov. 2 and it finally arrive on Feb. 7th, but was certainly worth the wait.

I don't think that there are two fans on any Z Series Thinkpad; could that not be the HDD instead?

I guess if there are not 2 fans, then it must be just the hard disk whirring away with the sound!
Got everything loaded up and have been surfing the web, just light duty, but really like the machine.
Those of you who ordered one, you'll be happy when you get it. It's amazing when finally it shipped it had a UPS tag that was shipped from Shanghai on Feb 8th and got to me on the west coast on Feb 10. Great timing so I can spend a couple of days over the weekend with it.

Yeah they call that 2nd fan a spinning HDD. On my T42, the hard drive is the only animal making noise ...

That's why I asked:
How's your hard disk drive?
Please check my posts about the same noise issue.
Thought it was a fan, but turned out to be the HDD. Tried to reduce it with the hitachi feature tool, but the s-ata drive crashed (twice)

Now I have a Toshiba. It's better but:

Please let me now if you hear a simular sound.

Have you tried NHC to reduce the fan spinning noise? It does a pretty good job from what I have seen.

Yes I did, but it doesn't seem to work.
Don't know if it doesn't work because of the drive itself or because of the z60m power management.
And besides spinning down, the Toshiba doesn't have Acoustic Management possibilities... unfortunately.

Well...yes, I think so.:)
Still trying to reduce the sound, though.
Enjoy the rest of your beauty!

I almost can't hear anything....If that's what you guys are talking about, I guess we better just get used to it. It's not loud at all, and it's just the sound of THINKING...lol Guess it won't be annoying to me~ Hopefully I will be able to find it out tomorrow.

How come someone's TP only took 2 days for UPS to delivery from China to US, while mine took almost a week, and is shipped from Ontario?

Well, it's not a very accurate recording ofcourse. I recorded it with my internal mic. It's a constant hissss. Comparing to other notebooks it's noisy. But then again: It's subjectieve and maybe it won't be annoying you.
Enjoy you notebook!
